Mike is a senior consultant with more than 30 years' aviation experience, mostly gained from working with British Airways and the oneworld alliance. He has a wide range of airline knowledge, skills and experience, and has been a major influencer in a number of BA’s successful strategies. His key expertise lies in the fields of business strategy, operations management and alliance development. He was a member of the airline’s five man business planning team for four years.


Recent Assignments:

Provided airline perspectives and expertise to UK Government in the identification and development of options for the expansion of Heathrow including more effective use of the current runways and the addition of a new third runway

Responsibilities at British Airways included:

Head of Worldwide Airline Operations 2005-2006

Responsible for the operational planning and day to day control of the airline worldwide. Managing 400 staff covering Operations Planning, Operations Control, Property, Terminal 5 Development and Operations Quality

Head of Operational Performance Improvement Programme 2003-2005

Lead a multifunctional programme to improve British Airways operational performance. This programme established a new Heathrow airport control centre, created more robust schedules, improved contingency planning and improved the handling of disruption.

Alliances and Franchises 1996-2003

Key individual involved in the negotiation of British Airways alliance relationship with American Airlines, and the development of the oneworld alliance. Became Head of Alliances and Franchises in 2001, responsible for the development and management of all BA’s Alliance and Franchise activity worldwide.

Head of Business Strategy 1993-1995

Direct report to the Group Managing Director to establishing a new senior management organisational structure and business processes.

General Manager, Operations Planning 1990-1993

Responsible for planning the British Airways aircraft schedule from 3 years out to the day before operation. Senior representative at IATA slot conferences.

SVP - Information Management, North America 1987-1989

Based in New York, responsible for all British Airways IT systems in USA and Canada.
